With our adjustment to working at home and all of the challenges that come with that, we are also at home with our families more. Finding things to keep you all entertained can sometimes be tricky, especially if the amount of time you are all spending together has taken an increase.

Check out these fun and exciting ways to keep family time from getting stale – no matter the age of the kiddos.

1. The Banana Game

Ask all willing family members to line up shoulder to shoulder. Tie one end of a string around a banana and tie the other end of the string around each player’s waist so that the banana hovers just above the ground. Put a whiffle ball (or something similar) in front of each player. The goal of this game is to get the whiffle ball across the finish line (a line about 30 feet away) using only the banana! The only motion allowed is swinging the banana with the hips to make the banana hit the whiffle ball. It sounds rather awkward, but it is a riot!

2. Family Talent Show

What better way to showcase the importance of personal talents, that are fun and enjoyable, than a talent show!

Below are a few ideas to help get you started:

  • Sing a song
  • Do a theatrical reading (slam poetry?)
  • Perform a skit with one or more family members
  • Juggle
  • Play an instrument
  • Play an invisible instrument

3. Story Time

Ask everyone to prepare a story about someone else in advance (the more embarrassing the better, but maybe not too too embarrassing) and have them plan to share it with everyone one night. (try to think of something not everyone knows.)

BONUS:  If you have a large group, choose one person to tell a story about someone else and try to guess who’s embarrassing story it is!

4. Get Creative Together

Being creative can be a fun way to bring your family closer together.

Here are some fun, creative family activities to get you started:

  • Try a new recipe together
  • Make slime
  • Create your own game
  • Make edible Play-Doh
  • Film a video

5. Movie Night

This one takes hardly any effort. Pop some popcorn, curl up on the couch, put a movie on and BAM! Check out these ideas to make movie night extra special:

  • Create movie tickets. This helps build anticipation for movie night and adds that extra special tough.
  • Watcht he movie in your pajamas!
  • Take movie night that extra step and incorporate it into additional family activities, like a simple craft or activity or maybe a meal that works well with the movie.
