Horizon & SaskTel Extreme Technology MakeOver Contest (“Contest”) Rules

Objective: To find an organization in Saskatchewan most worthy of being awarded the $50,000 Extreme Technology Makeover Grand Prize package.

The Horizon & SaskTel Extreme Technology Makeover Grand Prize package will consist of products and services from industry leading manufacturers and suppliers.

Rules

  1.  The Contest is open to Saskatchewan businesses that:

    • a) have between 1 and 99 employees;

    • b) have been in business for a minimum of two (2) years; and

    • c) are either non-profit, for profit, or charity organizations.

  2. The Contest commences at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 9, 2012 and ends at 11:59 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012.

  3. Contest entrants will be short-listed to ten (10) finalists, based on the following criteria:

    • a) successfully answering questions on www.horizon.ca/etm website;

    • b) successfully meeting initial contest criteria:

      • i. located within Saskatchewan;

      • ii. in business for a minimum of two (2) years; and

      • iii. having between 1 and 99 employees.

  4. All Ten (10) finalists will be required to submit a business case and must allow Horizon and/or its Contest sponsors  to interview the principals and employees of the business.

  5. The judging committee will consist of three Saskatchewan business community members and one representative from Horizon.

  6. Finalists will be judged on the following criteria:

    • a. business needs Presentation (40%);

    • b. effect on community (30%) ;

    • c. applicability (15%); and 

    • d. originality (15%).

  7. Employees and relatives of Horizon, SaskTel  and the judging panel are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

  8. A Grand Prize Winner and two runner-up winners will be selected from the ten finalists.

  9. The Contest winners will be announced  at a press conference.

  10. The Contest winners by their participation in the Contest agree to filming, documenting and all forms of press coverage in relation to the Contest, and  consent to Horizon sharing all contact information of the winner with the  Chamber of Commerce and the participating vendors and suppliers in the Contest.

  11. The Contest winners are responsible for additional charges that are incurred or are applicable in excess of those costs associated directly with the prizes, such as, but not limited to, cabling, internet access charges and  licensing.  

  12. The Contest Grand Prize winner:

    • a) is not obligated to enter into a long term contract with Horizon;

    • b) is not obligated to renew services/ warranty/licenses with other donating/sponsoring organizations; or

    • c) is not obligated to have Horizon install, configure or support prize package equipment. However, that portion of the Contest Grand Prize supplied by Horizon, if rejected by the Grand Prize winner, and any corresponding monetary value in lieu thereof, will be entirely forfeited by the Grand Prize winner.

    • d) the Grand Prize winner will be awarded the Grand Prize of a $50,000 Technology Package.

    • e) the two runners-up will each be awarded SaskTel wireless devices.

  13. Upon completion of the delivery of the prizes, the Contest winners will execute a release in favour of and in form satisfactory to Horizon and SaskTel, and the prize supplies, acknowledging the delivery of the prizes is complete, acknowledging that the winner has read and understood the Contest rules, waiving all further or additional deliverables in relation to the Contest and releasing Horizon, SaskTel  and the prize suppliers, and their respective officers and employees from all liability resulting from the award and or use of the Contest prizes .

  14. Horizon reserves the right to determine the components and services making up the $50,000 Technology Package Grand Prize. SaskTel will determine the make and model of the runner-up prizes.

  15. The component of the Grand Prize supplied by SaskTel is a credit of up to $25,000.00 toward normal charges for products and services supplied by SaskTel to the Grand Prize Winner. The Grand Prize  winner must either be a SaskTel customer or be willing to become a SaskTel customer to receive the SaskTel supplied component of the Grand Prize. The SaskTel supplied component of the Grand Prize will consist of SaskTel supplying products or services from SaskTel’s regular product and services offerings to the Grand Prize  winner. The value of those products and services will be offered by way of a credit against the Grand Prize  winner’s account with SaskTel. If the Grand Prize  winner elects to acquire terminal equipment from SaskTel such as, but not limited to wireless terminal equipment, to be applied towards the prize component supplied by SaskTel, all such terminal equipment must be activated/installed by the Grand Prize winner on SaskTel’s network.  The value of the SaskTel supplied Grand Prize component must be used by the Grand Prize  winner by September 30th, 2012. Under no circumstances will the SaskTel supplied component of the Grand  Prize be a cash payment of any amount by SaskTel to the Grand Prize  winner. Any portion of the value of the SaskTel component of the Grand  Prize not used by the Grand Prize  winner within such one (1) year period will be forfeited and no longer available to the Grand Prize winner.

  16. Horizon and SaskTel reserve the right to determine when the $50,000 Technology Package Grand Prize has been fully delivered.

  17. All applicable taxes are the sole responsibility of the Contest winners.

  18. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.

  19. SaskTel and Horizon are the sole judges and decision makers regarding any dispute regarding the application or interpretation of the Contest Rules or any other aspect of the Contest and such judgment or decision shall be final. 

  20. Horizon and SaskTel retain the right in their sole and absolute discretion to change for any reason, the start and/or end dates of the Contest, or to cancel the Contest as whole for any reason.

  21. Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable and are not redeemable for cash.
